Well winter is back! I was hoping we would at least get a bit of a break. I was hoping to get some casting in and dial some rod and line combos. So now it looks like that's been pushed back. Calling for 15cm of snow this afternoon and into the night. This river is starting to ice over again so things are looking miserable for a while.

Hopefully it doesn't last long but it's not looking that way. More snow forecast in the next few days.

Starting The Journey

Well it's the end on Feburary and everything is closed. Trout opener is not until the end of April and hopefully I can get into a couple of steehead heading back to the Lake Erie. For now I will just show you the Grand River after ice break up. We are at the end of a heavy wind storm with some rain and snow. It started with some pretty mild temperatures and a good melt. The river has risen 2-3 feet over the last day or 2. Down river at the mouth things have been more severe. The 100km/hr wind has pushed the lake level way up on the north shore. The dam in Dunnville all but disappeared. Add to that the amount of water rushing down and we have some pretty significant flooding. Warnings of high water and flooding has been broadcast regularly on the local radio station. Levels dropping now.
